Lindsay + Chase

Lindsay and Chase wanted to celebrate their wedding in a way that blended their love of their Celtic roots and shared West Virginia heritage. Three days of glamping and a Scottish Games style competition (including caber toss and javelin throw!) were proposed, but hopes were dashed when I said no to anything that might involve a trip to the ER on wedding day. Full disclosure here – Lindsay is my youngest daughter. She’s grown up helping me with decorating jobs and hosting events, so needless to say, expectations were high. I finally convinced the two of them that we could substitute something a bit gentler and still have fun with the Celtic theme.

The Douglas and Lindsay Tartans were the inspiration for the rich color palate. Our dear Jeni of Westvirjeni was so generous with her time and talent, and her creativity was on full display with the lush florals and abundant greenery throughout our barn and on the amazing ceremony backdrop doors from River Chase Weddings. Music was an important element as well, with guests being greeted with bluegrass from Chelsea McBee, bagpiper Tim Carey piping the bride in, and Zandi Entertainment keeping the crowd on the dance floor. Catering by Margarita kept our guests happy and full, and cakes and cupcakes by Scout’s Bakeshop provided a sweet finish. And all of it captured by our friend Shannon of Sweet Caroline Photography.

So many special details… the cape sewn by Lindsay’s grandmother, the scotch tasting in lieu of a receiving line, a custom stuffed “sheep” for the games by our friend Keara, the wall hanging woven by guests with coaching from Leah of FiberFeels, stained glass windows from the mother of the groom to add to the barn decor, the Irish dance by Lindsay and her bridemaids… we could go on and on.

When you surround yourself with talented and trusted vendors and you’re lucky enough to have amazing friends and family that jump in to do whatever needs to be done, it makes for one hell of a party. Sláinte, Lindsay and Chase!
