You know how much we like to celebrate our local talent, so when Elizabeth and Ben initially contacted us to discuss a “destination” wedding here in Jefferson County, West Virginia, of course we jumped at the chance. They were obviously totally devoted to each other and very excited about their wedding but just as important to them was that their family, friends and guests would be a big part of the celebration.
Plans were already underway for their traditional Catholic ceremony at the historic Chapel of St. Peters in Harpers Ferry. The European elegance and charming guest lodging at The Bavarian Inn made it the perfect reception choice for their not quite 100 person guestlist, and the accommodating staff there worked with us every step of the way as we planned the wedding weekend.
From the Friday night rehearsal dinner at local favorite Blue Moon Café to the Sunday rafting trip with River Riders, we love that this sweet couple wanted to make sure their guests had a great time and got to experience so much of what our area has to offer. This attention included so many personal touches – the carefully selected sacred music during their rehearsal and Wedding Mass, the River Rider shuttles that provided transportation (and a bit of excitement) from Shepherdstown to the mountaintop church of St. Peter’s, the allergy-friendly wedding cake that was made by a dear friend, the relative that jumped in with his own accordion to join the Bachelor Boys Band, and a grandmother that rocked the dance floor like no other. We loved working with Ben and Elizabeth (still miss our chats!) and wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
